Although still low in record compared to the previous slates under the franchise, AY Makun’s latest comedy blockbuster ‘Merry Men 3’ rules Nigerian box office for 2nd week with N33.4 million earnings
According to data analysis from the Cinema Association of Nigeria, the Merry Men 3 enjoyed a substantial N18.6 million weekend haul, complemented by an additional N14.8 million from Monday, October 16th to Wednesday, October 19th, 2023. These massive earnings sums up to a remarkable N33.4 million since its grand debut on Saturday, 13th of October, 2023.
This makes the AY Makun film yet again the most-watched Nollywood movie at the cinemas right now. Although there were no new titles over the weekend, Nigerians are clearly still in love with the ones currently on display.
In the high-octane sequel, three of the merry men confront Dafe, portrayed by Chidi Mokeme, who seeks vengeance after being abandoned during a prior mission in Russia. Dafe sets his target on corrupt politicians, believing that the group has failed to deliver justice appropriately.
The movie ‘Merry Men’ was directed by Moses Inwang and has the likes of AY Makun, Ramsey Nouah, William Uchemba, Sam Dede, Segun Arinze, Bucci Franklin, Nadia Buari, Jide Kosoko, Ufuoma McDermott, Iyabo Ojo, Francis Onwochei, Regina Daniels, and Caroline Hutchings.
