The month of December is unique in a lot of ways. Aside it being the last of the year it is a month of reflection, where you get to examine and evaluate your life and progress through out the year.
It is also a month of miracles and some of us are privileged to be born in this month, let us now identity some key political figures born in the month of December.
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
Born December 20, 1957, he is the 14th President of Nigeria, served from 2010 to 2015. He is known for his conciliatory approach to politics and his efforts to promote peace and stability in the country.
Muhammadu Buhari
Born December 17, 1942, he was Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and was elected President in 2015 and re-elected in 2019, making him the immediate past President of Nigeria and a retired major general in the Nigerian Army.
Buhari is known for his anti-corruption stance and his focus on security and economic development.
Bukola Saraki
Saraki was born on 19 December 1962 in London to his mother Florence Morenike Saraki and his father Olusola Saraki, who was a Senator in the Second Nigerian Republic.Â
Saraki served as the 13th president of the senate from 2015 to 2019. He was previously the governor of Kwara state from 2003 to 2011. A member of the APC at some point in his political career, Saraki returned to his former party, the PDP, and he has remained there.
Nyesom Wike
Born December 13, 1966, he is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria and the 6th Governor of Rivers State, serving from 2015 – 2023. He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is known for his outspoken nature and his commitment to infrastructural development in his state.
Senator Godswill Akpabio
Born on December 9, 1962. Akpabio is the current Senate president of Nigeria. He is the senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district in the national assembly from 2015 to 2019. Akpabio served as minister for Niger Delta Affairs from 2019 to 2022. He was also the governor of Akwa Ibom state from 2007 to 2015.
Lai Mohammed
Hails from Kwara State, Lai Mohammed is a Nigerian politician born December 6, 1951. He is a former minister of information and culture in Nigeria. He is also a former national publicity secretary of the APC.
Yakubu Dogara
Born on December 26, 1967 in Bauchi, Nigeria. Dogara served as the 13th speaker of the house of representatives. He was a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) but defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022.
