Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the last election has said that the spread of insecurity in Nigeria portends immediate danger to common people as he expresses sadness over Nabeeha’s murder – one of the six sisters and father abducted in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Peter Obi expressed deep concern over the escalating insecurity and tragic loss of life in Nigeria and task the federal government and the general public to cooperate to tackle the threatening situation.

Obi was responding, through his Twitter handle, to the unfortunate incident that lead to the kidnapped and killing of one of the six sisters, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, whilst her remaining six sisters still remain in the hands of the criminals.

The reported tragic killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who was kidnapped alongside her father and siblings in Abuja by bandits, not only shows how insecurity currently ravages the nation but also shows how helpless Nigerians have become in the face of these dangers.”

He further expressed his displeasure over insecurity and the weight of the burden, mental trauma such would have on the Kadriyar, “The trauma being experienced by this family and the blood of this innocent child should prick our conscience as leaders.”

He called on the government to look deeply into the security architecture of the country and come out with a strategy that would combat and respond quickly to threat across the nation.

He opined that since kidnapping has become rampant in the federal capital territory it goes to show lapses in the current strategies and the more efforts should be intensified in the operations to rescue the remaining sisters and provide safety for Nigerians.

“I am very concerned about how insecurity has continued to ravage every part of our dear nation,” Obi declared, urging a collective effort to combat the rising wave of kidnappings, killings, armed robberies, and violent attacks.

Whilst offering prayers to the repose of Nabeeha’s soul, Obi expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Kadriyars: “I sincerely commiserate with the bereaved family and pray God Almighty to forgive Nabeehav Al-Kadriyar’s sins and grant her eternal rest, and grant the rest of the family members their freedom from captivity. We shall conquer.”
