The Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque in Abuja, known as the ‘Digital Imam that speaks truth to power’, Shiekh Nuru Khalid, was suspending by the Mosque Committee.

Reacting after his suspension on Sunday, for criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari, regarding the state of insecurity in the country, Shiekh Khalid said only God can enthrone and dethrone.

The Islamic scholar had berated the Buhari government over the spate of insecurity in Nigeria.

Following the Abuja -Kaduna bound railway attack that claimed lives and injured many, the embattled Imam Khalid expresses his concern over the incident and the increasing of bloodshed and death across the country.

In his Friday sermon, he urged Nigerians to boycott elections if the government can’t protect them.

It was in view of the sermon he delivered, the mosque committee suspended him.

Disclosing this, the Chairman of the committee, Senator Saidu Dansadau said the Imam’s message was ‘inciting’ and could cause public outrage.

Reacting to the development, Khalid in a Facebook post, wrote: “God is the most powerful. He gives (enthrones) and takes away power (dethrones) from whomever He wishes.

“Oh God! The master of sovereignty, you give sovereignty to whom you please, and seize sovereignty from whom you please, you honour whom you please and you abase whom you please, all good is in your hands, indeed you have power over all things.”
