Star Nigerian gospel singer Sammie Okposo dies at 51

Star Nigeria gospel musician and music producer Sammie Okposo passes on at 51.

His death was announced on Friday morning by his project manager, Hillary Vincent.

The sad news has been confirmed by TVAFRINET.

Responding to inquiries, he said, “Yes it’s true. It happened this morning.”

Whilst affirming the singers death, Vincent, refused to mention the cause of the death, which another unverified source attributed to heart attack.

Another source on the Internet stated that the singer slumped and died instantly.

Known for his various hit tracks, the Wellu Wellu master, as he was known as, was the Chief Executive Officer of Zamar Entertainment.

Sammie was a master in his craft, recognized internationally an excellent music producer and psalmist.

His debut album Unconditional Love was release into the market in 2000, followed by, Wellu Welu, Na Only You I know, Sing Halleluja, Naija Praise and other songs,

He began his sojourned in the entertainment sector as a soundtrack producer for Nollywood in 1992, service a few clientele in the nascent industry.

The Niger Delta-born music star took his eccentric art and energetic performance of gospel song to a crescendo never before associated with the genre.

Sammie Okposo gave back to the industry and brought him to limelight through the Sammie Okposo Praise Party, a platform that helped nurtured and launched a lot of up-and-coming Nigerian gospel artistes into the scene.
