The marriage of Nigerian celebrity comedian Basketmouth to Elsie Uzoma has crashed.
The popular comedian, whose real name is Bright Okpocha, and Elsie has been married for 12 years, until the former’s sudden announcement of the dissolution of the union, via his Instagram account.
According to him he said the dissolution of the marriage was mutually agreed with his wife, and hoped that the general public would respect their privacy.
In Basketmouth’s own words:
“As much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation. After much deliberations, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.
“As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance and support they need. We humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate through these times. Thank you.”
The marital crash came as a shock to many Nigerians, especially to fans of the comedian who had thought the marriage was one made from heaven, given how the duo met in 2003 at University of Lagos, when Basketmouth had his earliest shows at the campus before his break.
Until press time, no seems to know (for now) the reason for the unceremonious breakup of the ones celebrated marriage in the entertainment corridor.
