Abdullahi Abacha, the son of ex Nigeria Head of State , late General Sani Abacha was found dead in his sleep, in his residence at Maitama area of Abuja.
The sad news of Abdullahi’s death was made known by his sister Gumsu Abacha on her Twitter handle.
Gumsu who is the the wife of the Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, made the announcement on Saturday, March 4, 2023 – disclosing Abdullahi‘s passing, which according to her occurred in his sleep during the early hours of the day and requested a special prayers for the deceased.
In her tweet: “Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. I lost my younger brother Abdullahi Sani Abacha. He died in his sleep. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him jannatul firdous, Ameen. Please include him in your prayers.”
Gumsu also posted that Abdullahi’s body would be taken to the Central Mosque in Abuja for ‘Janaiza prayers, then to Gudu Cemetery for burial today.
The deceased is one of the children of Gen. Sani and Maryam Abacha, the seventh son from 10 children, with three daughters.
Gen. Abacha was Nigeria’s seventh military Head of State who came into power in November 17, 1993, after a bloodless coup that overtook the interim government of Ernest Shonekan.
His regime was inundated with serious controversy , unrest and state action against the opposition, especially after the annulment of the the 1993 general elections. He died in June 8, 1998, under suspicious circumstances.
