The Abuja-Kaduna rail service is set to resume operations in the coming week, according to a source
A report that is yet to be confirmed by TVAFRINET has it that the Federal Government has commenced installation of trackers and cameras at stations along the Abuja-Kaduna railway in preparation for service resumption of the rail which would likely commence November 28, 2022.
A source at the Idu rail station confirmed this development to some media organisations in Abuja.
The services have been under suspension after one of its trains was attacked eight months ago.
The Kaduna-bound train was attacked by terrorists on Monday, March 28, 2022 , killing 8 persons and over 168 passengers were abducted.
All the kidnapped victims were released at different times after serious and intensive negotiations with the bandits. Fortunately, the last batches of 23 persons were freed in October.
The need to institutes measures that would forestall similar incident in the future, couple with the refusal of the bandits to release those in their captive was partly responsible for the delay in commencement of operations to the public.
