African leaders agree on industrialization and trade expansion in Niamey

Must Read

African leaders meeting in Niger’s capital Niamey have agreed to increase efforts to promote industrialization and expand trade in Africa.

The leaders submitted that to be able to achieve the set goals, private sector participation is seriously required in key sectors, such as health, agriculture, agro-industry, education, energy and infrastructure.

The leaders who participated in the summit are President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, Rwanda’s Paul Kagame and Zimbabwe’s Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The call for the event was made during an Extraordinary Summit on Industrialization and Economic Diversification.

The summit later held a discussion on trade with a focus on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Every November 20th marks the Africa Industrialization Day. Unfortunately, the continent ranks the least industrialized across the world.
