The Federal Government of Nigeria has began the payment of all held salaries of lecturers in public institution across the federation under the umbrella of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

This development was revealed by the Chairman of ASUU Nsukka branch, Comrade Norbert Oyibo Eze.

“Yes, they have started paying. Even though I’m yet to receive mine, some of our lecturers have received two months’ payments out of the outstanding eight months’ withheld salary,” Eze said.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu Tinubu had in October 2023 approved the release of four of the eight months’ ASUU withheld salaries of the workers.

It is noteworthy that President Bola Tinubu had released four out of the eight months withheld salaries of the workers.

The strike which happened in 2022 while President Buhari was in office had lasted eight months and the then President had insisted on a ‘No work , no pay’ policy.
