In a political campaign rally in Kano State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has promised the people of the ancient city of massive investment in Agriculture if elected as the president of Nigeria.
He made the promise during the party’s presidential campaign rally in the state. He said if made president, Kano State will enjoy massive investment in the agriculture sector.
The state is known for its high agriculture contribution to the economy which has dwindled over the years. As Nigeria’s second-largest city, the state’s population and voting number are a factor to who wins the coming presidential election in Nigeria.
Atiku, while addressing the crowd at the Sani Abacha stadium, promised the people of the state of a four-point agenda he would focus on as a direct benefit to the people if elected. He said security, agriculture, commerce and opening of the borders would be his priority.
“I, therefore, urge you to vote for PDP from top to bottom. Only PDP can guarantee this four-point agenda for you,” he said.
He added if elected as president in the February 25 election, he would bring about an agricultural boost and tackle poverty in the state.
The PDP presidential candidate promised to restore the lost glory of businesses in Kano and give the people better life.
In his remarks, the Senator representing Kano Central and former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, urged ‘Kanawas’ to come out and vote for Atiku because he is the right candidate for the presidential seat.
He appealed to Nigerians to cast their votes for PDP from top to bottom to improve the well-being of the general population.
Atiku had lost to Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 presidential election, this time, he is one of the top contenders , alongside Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
Nigeria’s economy which has battled years of slow growth, high unemployment, dependence on oil and now rising debt levels and inflation has become a major campaign issue.
