They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it helps you set your energy level for the day. It should be a combination of complex carbs, protein, fibre and fat.

Starting the day with the right amount of food and food combinations helps to fuel the body for the day, stabilizes the blood sugar levels, and also increases the metabolism. Here are some common food items that we consume regularly but should be completely avoided.

Butter Toast

This has been the quickest breakfast to make as we are all in a hurry to get to our various activities for the day. It has also been a comfort food among a lot of people. But toasted white bread is low in fibre and will not keep one full for a long period. One might end up eating more than required. Simple carbs can even cause constipation and bloating. This food option even lacks protein.

Refined cereals

Cereals is on of our favourite go to breakfast, and as most of us are looking towards quick breakfast options and cereal tops that list. They contain added sugar which adds up extra calories and even can lead to weight gain. Having sugary cereals right in the morning can make you feel sluggish during the day. It is advised to purchase whole grain cereals that is high in fibre which can be combined with almond or oat milk to boost the nutritional content in the meal.

Fruit juice

Fruit juice is often seen as a healthy choice of meal but this should not be taken for breakfast because it spikes the sugar level and increases hunger pangs later during the day. Fruit juices which are sour in nature can cause acidity too because the stomach remains empty from dinner to breakfast. It is safer to convert it into a smoothie with yogurt or almond milk as a base and adding ingredients like oats, seeds, and greens which makes it a very nourishing breakfast.

Pancakes

Pancake made with all purpose flour is not advised to be taken for breakfast. But if pancake is seen as your best choice of meal you can make it with whole wheat flour, and millet which would make you satisfied and increase nutrients in our diet.
