President Buhari nominates Henry Ikechukwu, Umar Ibrahim Yakub as replacements for contesting ministers

Some Ministers who resigned their positions under the President Buhari’s administration to seek elective offices in adherence to the Nigerian Electoral Act have been replaced by a seven man nomination list sent by the President to the National Assembly through an executive communication.

The names of the seven men nominees are Henry Ikechukwu – Abia State, Umana Okon Umana – Akwa-Ibom State; Ekuma Joseph – Ebonyi State; Goodluck Nana Obia – Imo State; Umar Ibrahim Yakub – Kano State; Ademola Adewole Adegorioye – Ondo State; Odo Udi – Rivers State.

The names of the nominees were revealed by the the senate President Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan as he read the letter at the plenary on tuesday.

It read : “In accordance with Section 8 Subsection 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I hereby forward the listed ministerial nominees for your confirmation.”

The previous ministers who in adherence to the Electoral Act left their positions under the present administration to seek elective offices are Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio;Ministers of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

The rest are Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu; and the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba. Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogah; Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen; the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Tayo Alasoadura.
