The former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Buhari in the past administration, Femi Adesina, has condemned the insinuations and wild rumour suggesting that his boss, former President Buhari was cloned as Jubril of Sudan.

Femi Adesina revealed this in his book, titled ‘Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015 – 2023). He had described such accusation as ridiculous and recalled that Nigerians began spreading this rumour after the President returned from his foreign medical trip on August 19, 2021.

Further, Adesina said that he had attended the wedding ceremony of the daughter of a former Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin on the day the President returned, hence he was clad in a full agbada regalia on their way to the airport to welcome the President. He claimed that the President commended his outfit by calling his name in the process. With this fact, it was obvious that the President had prior knowledge of who he was.

In the words of Adesina, “When later, some people began to spread unfounded stories that the man that returned to the country on that August 19 was not the real Buhari, but a clone, named Jubril of Sudan, I just found it preposterous, even otiose.”

He argued that if the “person was a certain Jubril, how did he know my name, and commenting on my dressing?”
