Detained Binance executive escapes from custody

Nadeem Anjarwalla who is among the two Binance Executives detained in Nigeria over several offences of which tax evasion is part of them, has escaped from custody.

It is on account the Federal Government had arrested the two senior executives of Binance in February.

The government who is adept at cracking down cryptocurrency exchanges had made the arrest to address the issue.

Binance was charged with non-payment of Value-Added Tax, Company Income Tax, failure to file tax returns, and complicity in aiding customers to evade taxes through its platform.

Reports have it that Anjarwalla had escaped from the guest house where he and his colleague were being held on Friday.

Anjarwalla who was escorted for prayers by the guards on duty had used the opportunity to escape on Friday.

The British national, who also holds Kenyan citizenship, is suspected to have departed Abuja via a Middle East airline.
