DSS storms CBN, invades Emefiele’s office

DSS takes control of CBN and Emefiele's office, Governor on the run

The operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS), have stormed Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, headquarters, Nigeria’s apex financial institution, invaded the office of Governor of of the bank, Godwin Emefiele.

There has been a silent war between the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the DSS over fraudulent financial practices the Services accuse him of.

Following a hint of his arrest by the Service, the embattled Governor traveled out of Nigeria, secretly, in what gave credence to speculations of his secret financial dealings and funding of terrorism.

A court order to arrest Emefiele had earlier been sought by the Service, but fortunately for Emefiele he was out of the country.

However, the FCT High Court had in December 2022 barred the secret service from arresting, inviting, or detaining Emefiele.

A twist of fate against the Governor, the Service stormed CBN headquarters on Monday noon with 20 vehicles filled with armed personnel to effect the arrest, and also to conduct a search, in the process of the action, all staff of the bank were barred from gaining access to Mr Emefiele’s office.
