Willie Obiano, the Ex governor of Anambra state was arrested by the men of the EFCC, just hours after his wife caused a scuffle.
This was barely 24 hours after the Inauguration of Charles Soludo as the incumbent Governor of Anambra state on the 17th March, 2022.
According to the report, Willie Obiano was arrested in Lagos state, at the Murtala Mohammed airport on his way to Houston, Texas.
It was stated that, a case was filed against him in November last year, but actions could not be taken because of his immunity as at that time.
The EFCC was said to place him under scrutiny and in their watchlist.
According to reports as given by the Premium times,the EFCC was said to have sent a letter to the Controller general of asking that they be informed whenever the Ex Governor was jetting out of the country.
It is however not know, if the arrest came as a result of a tip off from the immigration service.
The reason for EFCC actions is yet unknown, as it is speculated to be in connection with Money laundering.
According to reports, it was stated that Obiano was still in the custody of the EFCC as opposed to the news of his release.
He was said to have been transferred to Abuja as at Friday morning.
