NYSC museum launched by government

The museum was launched by the government of Nigeria to preserve the scheme’s history.

On Tuesday, the Hon. Minister of Youths and Sports, Mr Sunday Dare, unveiled a museum for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The archival facility is intended to serve as a repository of the scheme’s relics, preserve its history , double as a research and documentation center, and as a tourist attraction.

At the unveiling ceremony, Mr Dare stressed on the importance of preserving the rich history that continues to be generated by the scheme that unites the nation’s youth in serving their country.

“With the complexities of today’s world and the quest for foreign culture, it has become necessary to seek ways to preserve our history.

“Therefore, I have highly honored to commission this project which will serve as a centre for research and documentation-and in the long run, a source of income to the (NYSC) Scheme,” Dare said.

The event was attended by the NYSC Director-General, Major-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, who appealed to the federal government grade and list the museum as a part of the country’s historical sites to promote tourism in the country.
