A devastating fire incident occurred at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters in the early hours of friday, leaving many residents homeless. The fire, which started around 2:00 a.m., ravaged several buildings in the quarters, destroying properties worth millions of naira.

Eyewitness Accounts

“I was awakened by the sound of screams and shattering glass,” said Mrs. Ajayi, a resident of the quarters. “I rushed outside to see our neighbor’s apartment engulfed in flames. We tried to put out the fire, but it spread too quickly.”

Emergency Response

The Lagos State Fire Service and Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded promptly to the incident, battling the blaze for several hours. “Our team arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m. and worked tirelessly to contain the fire,” said LASEMA Director-General, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu.

Casualties and Damage

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident, but several residents sustained minor injuries. The fire destroyed over 20 apartments, leaving many families without shelter.
