A generator which can be powered using a litre of urine to give about six hours of electricity have been invented by four Nigerian teenage girls.

The invention which was championed by the girls in the names of : Duro-Aina Adebola, Akindele Abiola, Faleke Oluwatoyin, and Bello Eniola had showcased their scientific breakthrough at the annual event Maker Faire Africa, held in Lagos.

The idea of the urine-powered generator is not new but the practicality of it came to be when Adeola, Abiola, Oluwatoyin and Eniola put into action in a way that it can be utilized by households.

The idea of inventing a generator that does not emit carbon monoxide inspired Adebola to begin a search for an alternative of a generator which may not emit harmful substances as carbon monoxide which she had read to have contributed to the killing of a family of four.

The 14 year old Adebola had related the idea with her friends of same age bracket and Eniola who was 15 years old.

The four friends nicknamed “Fantastic Four” had gone on with the invention which is now celebrated globally.
