General purpose machine guns, other weapons assembled for attack on Buhari’s state – NSCDC

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has forewarned that President Muhammad Buhari’s state of Katsina may be the next point of attack by the Boko Haram and the Islamic State for West Africa Province terrorists as weapons of mass destructions are being assembled for such purpose in the state.

Lagos state and the FCT amongst others are the other places which the terrorists group are planning to invade and wreck havoc as well.

According to the intelligence gathered by the NSCDC, the Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa Province terrorists have equipped themselves with special weapons as Anti-aircraft guns, general purpose machine guns, among others for their onslaught against the Presidents state of Katsina.

In a leaked report addressed to all commands on the 25th of July which was titled thus:

“Re: Heightened plots by terrorists to stage coordinated attacks in parts of the country” was signed by the Deputy Commandant General Controller in charge of Operations, DD Mungadi.

It further read as follows : “We have received credible intelligence that Boko-Haram and the ISWAP terrorist groups have mobilised fighters and high calibre weapons particularly Rocket-propelled Grenade launchers, Anti-Aircraft guns, and General Purpose Machine Guns which they intend to deploy for the offensive in Katsina State.”

The report also suggested of some other attacks by terrorist groups in Kaduna, Zamfara state and the other three states mentioned earlier. It reasd thus:

“In another development, two separate bandits groups are plotting coordinated attacks on North-West, North Central and South West (Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kogi, FCT and Lagos respectively).

“Consequently, the Commandant General has directed you to scale up deployment in all strategic places including Schools, Worship Centres, and Critical National Assets in your respective states, to checkmate any possible threats by these criminal elements. Please treat as urgent,” the report added.

Following the state of security challenges around the country, there is need to beef up security in all areas of the country the NSCDC warned.ed team was attacked, and two policemen were killed.
