The Peoples Democratic Party, Lagos State has finally named Nigerian Nollywood Actress, Funke Akindele as their Deputy Governorship candidate for Next years Governorship election in the state.
This was revealed by the actress on her Instagram page on Tuesday with a video.
With this position, the actress will be be working alongside her running mate, Olajide Adediran popularly referred to as Jandor who is the Governorship flagbearer for the party.
In the video, the highly successful actress pointed out reasons for her wanting to be the running mate of the opposition party.
“I saw it as an opportunity to help liberate and improve the wellbeing of our people, particularly the deprived youth, women and the girl child.
“My decision is not just to accept this huge responsibility but to also work tirelessly and complement Jandor’s burning desire to see our dear Lagos live up to its full potentials.”
Media reports have it that Akindele who is from Ikorodu was a favourite for the position as her name topped the four man list of other party members choices which included Rhodes – Vivour and Kolawole whom are from Lagos west senatoriail district, same district Jandor hails from.
Also media report has it that four major factors influenced the choice of Funke Akindele as the Deputy Gov. candidate.
These includes her being from Ikorodu and Lagos East Senatorial District just as Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the incumbent deputy governor of the state.
She is also a member of the Royal family of the town.
This present feat by Akindele is coming just about two weeks after her husband, JJC Skillz announced his seperation from Akindele on social media citing irreconcilable differences, a claim which Akindele herself did not come out public to confirm.
Funke Akindele who stated that she would be suspending her acting career to concentrate on the huge political task ahead however did not include JJC Skillz surname, Bello, to her name in her Instagram message.
