Veteran Nigerian actor John Okafor, fondly known as Mr Ibu’s has had one of his legs amputated to save his life, according to his family.
The veteran actor has been battling with illnesses which doctor said seriously endangers his life which resulted to the amputation.
The development was announced his daughter via the actors verified Instagram profile.
she stated that the actor had undergone seven surgeries and his leg had to be cut off to save him from dying. Sexpress the family concern of trying to avoid the amputation but the reality dawned on them that his leg had to go else they would lose him.
According to the post: “Good afternoon, Nigerians, we want to appreciate everyone that has come through for our dad, saying we are grateful is an understatement and only the good Lord can thank you all enough for every help you’ve rendered. As of 1 pm ,noon today , Daddy has gone through 7 successful surgeries but to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery one of his legs had to be amputated.. This development has been hard on us all but we’ve had to accept it as Daddy’s new reality to keep him alive.”
While expressing her gratitute to Nigerians for showing concern and support, she said her family will forever remain grateful.
The actor under five operations in the month of October 31, 2023, and has remained in intensive care unit, recovering gradually.
Following the degeneration of his health, Mr Ibu celebrated his 62nd birthday in the hospital room, thereafter came the diagnosis of the seriousness of the ailment.
