Nigeria military declares agitators, terrorists and kindnappers wanted

Names of most wanted criminal leaders, kidnappers and terrorists published by DHQ

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has published the names of the most wanted agitators, terrorists and kidnappers causing insecurity and unrest in the country, seeking public cooperation for their capture.

On Friday, March 22, 2024, the names of the wanted persons and their pictures were published by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba.

The development comes barely a week after reports emerged that the DHQ was planning to declare some people wanted for terrorist activities.

In the lists were notable names of those who claimed to have carried out attacks against the state. Amongst them is the factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa, who currently resides in Finland.

As much as 97 persons were declared wanted by the military high command, accused of various crimes, such as kidnapping, terrorism, insurgency and other criminal acts.

The list constituted deadly criminal gang leaders from the North East and North West, as well as insurgents in the South-East and North Central – parts of Nigeria that have experienced the worst insecurity for many years.

They are Simon Ekpa; Chika Edoziem; Egede; Zuma ; ThankGod; Gentle; Flavour ; Mathew; David Ndubuisi; High Chief Williams Agbor; Ebuka Nwaka; Friday Ojimka; Obiemesi Chukwudi aka Dan Chuk ; David Ezekwem Chidiebube and Amobi Chinonso Okafor aka Temple among others

The North West Zone accounts for 43 persons, among which are: Alhaji Shingi; Malindi Yakubu; Boka; Dogo Gide; Halilu Sububu; Ado Aliero; Bello Turji; Dan Bokkolo; Labi Yadi; Nagala; Saidu Idris; Kachalla Rugga and Sani Gurgu.

The wanted persons in the North East, a region ravaged by Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, made 33 in numbers.

Here are their names: Abu Zaida; Modu Sulum; Baba Data; Ahmad; Sani Teacher; Baa Sadiq; Abdul Saad; Kaka Abi; Mohammad Khalifa; Umar Tella; Abu Mutahid; Mallam Mohammad; Mallam Tahiru Baga; Uzaiya and Ali Ngule .

Nigeria has been grappling with insecurity for over a decade unabated, of which recently criminal gangs kill some military personnels in the Niger Delta, in a clash between two communities, many believed was caused by conflicting interests over oil bunkering.
