Nigerian Idol 2022: Dbanj, Simi and others to serve as judges

Nigerian music sensations, Dbanj and Simi, have been announced as judges in this year’s edition of the Nigerian Idol.

This was made known two hours ago on the social media pages of the Nigerian Idol. The duo are to be joined by returning judge of the Nigerian Idols, Obi Asika, replacing Seyi Shay and DJ Sose.

Nigerian Idol, a reality tv show and local version of the Idol Series, began its run in 2010 with Onyekachi Elizabeth Onwuka as winner of the first edition. Subsequent editions have seen Mercy Chinwo, Moses Obi Adigwe, Evelle, K-Peace, and Kingdom Kroseide, emerge as winners in each of the consecutive editions.

Audu Maikori, Jeffrey Daniel, Charly Boy, Femi Kuti, Naeto C, and a host of other reputable names have sat as judges on the previous editions of the Nigerian Idol.

“We could not think of a better trio to be the season’s judges than Obi Asika, D’banj, and Simi.

“The three of them combined bring decades worth of experience in the music and entertainment
business,” said Dr. Bukola Tejumole, Executive Head, Content And West Africa Channels at
MultiChoice Nigeria.
