Petrol-as-souvenir party draws anger from Lagos State Govt, vow to punish organizers

The incident had drawn displeasure from the Lagos State government who vowed to punish the organizers of the event

Following the video of petrol-as-souvenir party that went viral, the Lagos State government has sealed off Havilah Event Centre in Oniru, the venue of the party where petrol was distributed as souvenir.

The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat said officials from the Lagos Safety Commission and the Rapid Response Squad has shut down the event centre till when investigation on the incident was concluded.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, had threatened to investigate the incident before its final closure.

The petrol-as-souvenir party video had gone viral showing ladies dancing with 10-litre gallons of petrol and some were stacked on the floor of the event as guest dance around.

As reported, the party was an installation ceremony of one Chidinma Pearl Ogbulu as Erelu Okin.

The state government express its displeasure over the incident as it was capable of causing danger to lives and properties – vowing to punish those responsible.
