The MMDN Queens during an interview talks about how Government should power and Sponsor Beauty Pageant Brands, as not only fashion and walking on the runway is to be expected from pageant events.

She also says Beauty Pageants add to the country’s GDP, as they are another form of Entertainment.

Using Mr. and Miss Diaspora Nigeria Beauty Pageant as a case study, she says, “Over the years we’ve been more into humanitarian services,

reaching out to Communities, Orphanages, Schools, Hospitals, and also the Aged, homeless and Destitute.”

She also calls on NGO’s, Ministries and Individuals to invest in Beauty Pageants.

“Pageantry is beyond walking on a stage, more than wearing fancy costumes and smiling at an audience. At its very core, pageants are or should be geared towards choosing a capable ambassador, to represent and champion a certain cause, which is the focus of the organization that sets up the pageant. Government involvement in terms of recognition of pageant titleholders, and creating and implementing enabling policies, will go an extremely long way in helping to see these causes fulfilled.” Queen Ize says.

“NGO’s and CSO’s have been the preferred partners for pageant titleholders since time immemorial, and this is highly appreciated and commended, because these bodies have an enormous reach that would be positively affected by the activities of pageant titleholders. On the other side, I would like to appeal to government bodies and agencies to up their level of partnership and involvement in the world of pageantry because together, I am assured that we can achieve so many beautiful things.” Queen Maryam adds.

Queen Maryam went on to introduce her first official PET project in collaboration with the Association of Nigerian Female Students (ANFS) FCT Chapter, “PAD A GIRL CHILD”, to mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day. This was carried out at various community schools.
