Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, whose victory at the governorship election was challenged by the Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Binani, has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

The judgement on Wednesday by the Apex court which was led by Justice John Okoro, totally rejected the appeal by the All Progressive Congress candidate, APC, Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru popularly known as Binani. The court further stated that Dahirus declaration as the winner of the election by the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) was illegal and void.

The conduct of the states former Electoral Officer, Hudu Ari, who declared Binani winner, was condemned by the Apex court as they termed it criminal and against the interest of the electorate.

The inability of the appellants (Binani) to provide credible evidence that she had won the election with credible votes from the majority, ensured that Fintiri emerged victorious.
