Suspected Boka Haram terrorists have met their waterloo in the hands of troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Borno State, north east Nigeria.
26 numbers of the notorious Islamist were killed in Ngwom community of Mafa Local Council in Borno state, while crossing the Maiduguri-Dikwa Road on 20 motorcycles into Sambisa Forest.
The incident was disclosed to the press yesterday, in Maiduguri, by a counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad Region, Zagazola Makama.
“The troops achieved the feat while acting on credible intelligence,” adding that the terrorists were moving in the Mafa axis to attack a military post along the road, when they met their end.
Makama said the troops swiftly acted in collaboration with the Civilian JTF and laid an ambush against the terrorists and neutralised about 26 of them.
Besides, he added that the troops also captured a suspected terrorist alive, while others fled with gunshot wounds into the forest.
Speaking on how insurgents were killed
“The laid ambush triggered a heavy gunfire between the troops and fleeing terrorists.
“They later retreated and attempted fleeing, but the ground troops chased them and killed over two dozen terrorists.”
He noted that two members of the Civilian JTF were, however, wounded during the fierce gun battle with the terrorists fleeing on motorcycles.
Two motorcycles and other weapons used in attacking communities in the Mafa-Dikwa axis were recovered from the terrorists.
