The use of breathalysers mandatory for this sallah festive period – FRSC

The Ogun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has stated that they will be deploying the use of breathalysers in the testing of motorists so as to ascertain those driving under the influence of alcohol during the Eid al–Adha (Sallah) festivities.

This development was made known to newsmen in an interview by the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Ahmed Umar, in Ota Ogun, State.

He further stressed that any motorist who tests positive to alcohol would be subjected to a drug test.

For this reason, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) would be deployed for this exercise during the festive period.

“We are therefore appealing to motorists to avoid drink driving during and after the festive period.

“People should not indulge in drinking and driving at the same time to prevent unnecessary loss of life,” he said.

Umar further expressed that any vehicle impounded due to the drivers violation of road traffic rules will be held on to until after the festivities are done with.

The sector commander said that the FRSC would collaborate with the police to check Road Traffic Violations (RTV) on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
