“We will no longer tolerate his insolent tendencies” – PDP PCMC to Wike

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Management Committee (PDP – PCMC) has warned Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to desist from  “unwarranted insult”  and verbal attack on Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 general elections.

The Committee warned Governor Wike on Monday through his spokespersons and Director Public Affairs, Senator Dino Melaye , who sternly requested that henceforth they will no longer tolerate his unruly behaviour.

Wike, in his usual public manner, taunts the PDP’s Presidential candidate Atiku, so much this time, he had asked Atiku to leave him out of the attendant challenges he is facing in the PDP.

Whilst referring to Atiku, Wike stated that a bad product is always difficult to sell, otherwise, former president Olusegun Obasanjo would have handed over power to him, given the fact that he served as his vice from 1999 to 2007.

The current public attack from Wike on Atiku was on the basis of former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s new year’s message to Nigerians, endorsing Peter Obi over the other presidential candidates.

Governor Wike hammers that if former president Obasanjo had refused to hand over power to Alhaji Atiku, then something must be fundamentally wrong.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Management Committee (PDP – PCMC) didn’t find Wike’s attack on Atiku funny, hence the warning.

“Atiku’s only crime is that he won a transparent presidential primary.

“Wike was chief of staff to Rotimi Amaechi but Amaechi did not trust him enough to hand over to him.

“I advise him to support whoever he wishes to support as we will no longer tolerate his insolent tendencies.

“The question is, is there something wrong with Wike that Amaechi did not hand over to him? Why will Prince Uche Secondus, Rt Hon. Austin Okpara, Sen. Lee Meaba, H:E Celestine Omehia, Chief Abiye Sikibo, Sen George Sekibo, Hon. Chinyere Igwe, etc, leave him unceremoniously for Atiku. Something is definitely wrong somewhere.”

From 1999 to 2007, Atiku was Obasanjo’s vice president, and their relationship turned sow in the wake of their government. Several attempts for sincere reconciliation has become futile, given the former president’s actions towards Atiku. Although, Obasanjo has severally stated publicly that he has forgiven his vice.
