Buni out, Sani Bello in, John James Akpanudoedehe gives reason for the absence of Chairman CECPC
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said the Chairman of the Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, was absent at the national headquarters due to ill health.
While Buni was absent Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State presided over a meeting of the committee at the party National Secretariat in Abuja. The meeting was held on Monday, March 07, 2022,
While granting interview reporters, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, attributed the absence of Buni at the party headquarters due to health reason. He said the Caretaker Chairman travelled to Dubai United Arab Emirates for medical checkup.
Also speaking with reporters, Sani Bello said he has been the acting chairman of the party for a while since Buni travelled out of the country.
He said: “I have been acting chairman for a while since the chairman (Buni) travelled.”
Regarding the meeting he had with states’ chairmen, Bello said, “The states’ chairmen took their oath of office today.”
“We discussed the progress made so far on convention and what needs to be done next so that we will achieve the March 26 date for the convention.”
The new acting Chairman of the CECPC said President Muhammadu Buhari endorsed him for the new responsibility and so far he has enjoyed the support and blessings of the President. He also said his new duties demands his frequent visit to the party secretariat as he will in charge till the March 26 convention of the party.
He also stressed that his main preoccupation and priority is to ensure the success of the much-anticipated party convention.
